anniversary weekend in aspen

Nine years. We have been married for nine years - wow! We celebrated with a weekend away in Aspen. Neither of us had ever been and it was FABULOUS. We slept in, skiied, ate great food, drank champagne, shopped, went on two hikes and just had a great time together. Much needed...and now back to wiping butts and cooking chicken nuggets. Celebrated our actual anniversary at a wine bar in Denver with wine, champagne and Connect Four. Heading out Friday night. We stayed at a cute b&b in downtown Aspen. It was walkable to everything which we loved. Skiied at Snowmass on Saturday. It was 60 degrees so we only got a few hours in. I officially converted back to skiing and it is SO MUCH BETTER. Hi Noah! Waiting for me as usual. Cool little modern art gallery. Heading out Saturday night.  Hiking at Red Butte. I was certain we were going to encounter a mountain lion.  Views from the top. Hiking Grizzly Creek. Ski tree in Vail. We stoppe...

emmett in the hospital

Wow, what a freakin' week! Emmett's back to his sweet, happy self after his 5 day stay in the hospital for RSV and pneumonia. He'd been sick on and off for about 10 days, just a cold and then a cough, so I took him to his pediatrician Monday morning. She listened to his breathing and checked his oxygen saturation, then RAN us across the street to the emergency department. They admitted him immediately, then drove us in an ambulance to the Children's Hospital where we stayed all week. Here we go... Poor little guy. On 5L of oxygen for the first couple of days. He was totally wiped out. Sick, but still mischievous. He wanted to get into everything within arm's length of his crib. Finally sleeping after a very long day. Once he started getting oxygen he really perked up. The nurses were so great, bringing him more and more toys. He's the most social kid - it was tough being with just mom for so many days. Noah came by every afternoon ...

ski weekend with the lawrence family

We had a super fun weekend with the Lawrence family! Our first San Diego visitors and we already miss them. They stayed with us in Denver, then we all headed up to the mountains for the weekend. We skied at Copper and Breckenridge, the kids all rode the magic carpet and were such great little skiers. They sledded and tubed, built a snowman, went exploring in waist-deep snow, stayed up late and just had so much fun together - none of us wanted it to end. In our backyard on Wednesday night - after dinner the kids all got in their snow gear and played outside. It was a blast and we got so much snow that the kids got a snow day on Thursday which apparently never happens. It was perfect timing. Emmett being self-sufficient. Weaning this kid off the bottle is going to interesting. The snow hill by our mountain house - it was a perfect hill for sledding. Ready to roll at Copper. Getting all of our rentals might have been the hardest part! Me and my bud spe...
