We took a pretty awesome trip to see both sets of families. It was a two week trip and the perfect way to break up the summer. Our trip in photos...
Day 1 was flying to Chicago. We stayed the night at a hotel downtown before driving up to Michigan. We walked to dinner and got caught in a HUGE rainstorm. The southern California kids were freaking out with Sophia screaming "just get an Uber!!!"
The moment Emmett discovered bacon dipped in syrup.
Road trip! Here we go.
Made it! First night at the lake. My parents, Amy, Jane, hubbies and kids all in tow this year.
Emmett and Bapa!
We had a couple great beach days and Molly and Sloane showed off their cutest swimsuits. They were so great at the beach. We vegged, paddle boarded, built sand creations, ran the dunes...
...and chased this monster beach ball all over the place.
Girls day! We had a baby shower for cousin Katie and a sip 'n see for the twins.
We hit up Michigan beach looking for petoskey rocks.
Me and my Soph
Found one! My mom got them some great rock collectors to help with the process :)
A nice relaxing moment at the beach. This was either right before or right after Emmett poo'd right on the sand. Oh yes. Dig a hole, cover with a rock, keep on moving.
We had lots of photo shoots!
Went to Monday night dance with Didi. Lots of Hokey Pokey and Sophia met a friend named Callie who loves to sing and dance as much as she does.
Me and my bubba.
My mom arranged a photo shoot. Santoro crew!
Finn sandwich
The whole crew! Love this one so much.
Me and Finn got away one afternoon for some mini golf.
Fun with moms phone. There are about 300 versions of this one :) THANK YOU mom and dad for an amazing week. We had a blast. Love you!! xoxox
Next stop - Papa and Grandma's farm! We drove 10 hours, through Michigan, Ohio and finally Pennsylvania.
Partial cousin crew. Noah's parents, sisters, husbands, kids, Grandma Anne and cousin Erik were all there. It was awesome.
Papa's barn is full of fun toys.
It was plum season so we picked hundreds of them.
They were delicious and we all ate them nonstop.
Finn in his gardening element. They have plum, pear and apple trees, plus a garden full of veggies.
Grandma Anne teaching the kids how to play poker. Ha!
Saying grace before dinner. We got all 10 grandkids around the table every night.
Papa with his grandkids.
The chickens. Ohhh, the chickens. The farm now has 10 chickens who are in the process of transitioning to a big coop. Noah's holding Stormy, who managed to escape multiple times. I have lots of video with all of us running around like crazy people trying to catch this damn chicken.
Day trip to State College. The farm is about a 20 minute drive from Penn State. It was fun to walk around the campus and have lunch.
Lunch reservation for 10 kids. Yikes.
Prepping dinner!
Making popsicles with Aunt Jess.
Eating popsicles with cousin Erik.
Uncle Noah, take us for a drive!!!
This microphone was the hit of the week. Finally ran out of power. Bummer.
The weather was great, but hot! Papa turned on the sprinkler for some fun.
We visited Titus at his stable.
Next stop - Manhattan! We were flying out of JFK so decided to spend a quick day in the city. Literally drove from a 50 acre farm into New York City.
We stayed right outside Times Square. Tuesday night we walked around seeing all of the craziness. Stopped into the M&M store...
...grabbed a hot dog and pretzel from the street vendor...
...then had dinner at Ellen's Stardust Diner. It was a long wait but the kids loved it once we got in. This is an iconic place where aspiring Broadway actors wait tables and perform. They were awesome!
The next morning we took a quick subway ride to Central Park.
We walked maybe a quarter of the park, stopped in a playground, rode the carousel, got an ice cream, then came the rain. We left the park and grabbed a slice of pizza, then it was time to head to the airport.
It was a long drive to JFK and Finn discovered Snapchat.
2 hours sitting on the runway and then a 6 hour flight. But we made it! Every day was an adventure on this trip and it was perfect to spend so much time with both our families and each other.
