Our week

We've had a pretty fun week, mixed with the usual outings to the market, HEMA (our very mini version of Target) and running around the city. I'm getting pretty good at navigating the trams. It's so easy, they're clean and fast and they go everywhere. We take the 26 in to the city and go from there. The day we visited Noah at work we took a tram, a metro and a bus. Quite the adventure but I'm getting more and more confident every day and the kids are pros, checking their tram cards in and out each time.
We try to get out every day or else I lose my mind, but we've also had lots of playing at home. Sophia runs a daycare where Emmett and the baby dolls are her kids. These are their beds. She loves calling all of their parents to tell them their kids are sick and they have to be picked up RIGHTNOW. Finn is mildly obsessed with the iPad which is another reason we have to get out of the house. I made the mistake of downloading Pokemon Go and he's obsessed!

Today we went to Oosterpark for the first time. The parks here are pretty incredible. They're designed in a very cool way, with things to do along all of the paths throughout the park. There's also usually cafes along the way. There was a water park and it was actually warm and sunny enough to get in. E was stripped down to his diaper having a great time.

He lost the shirt a minute later.

Water path.

The other side of this structure had a little slide. Dutch schools go on summer holiday this week so kids are starting to be everywhere. The moms have all been super friendly and all speak English. The parenting style is interesting to watch - very hands off.

The playgrounds are so different from the US. Everyone here says it's because they don't worry about the lawsuit stuff nearly as much. The one we saw today was amazing - a huge structure like a roller coaster that the kids climbed all the way through.

These hanging tire swings were cool.

End of the play structure.

Emergency coffee stand. Because, yes. The Tropen Museum is at this park. We've been wanting to go but my museum cards were inside my wallet that was stolen in Mallorca so we're waiting for new ones and then we'll get back on the museum circuit. We did have lunch at the museum cafe overlooking the park and it was gorgeous. Ham and cheese toasties all around.

What we've been up to

It's been cold and snowy! We got almost a foot of snow on Monday afternoon and the kids had a snow day on Tuesday. They got hours of TV in the morning and then Noah came home and we all went sledding. The hill by our house was absolutely packed with kids. We had so much fun. Emmett cried and cried, saying "brrrr" until I threw him on a sled with me and flew down the hill. He cried the first time, and then loved it after that. Sophia and Finn were both so brave. Noah build them a jump and they both flew over it on the sleds over and over again. Finn loves to shovel the sidewalk. Noah snowboarded a couple days over the weekend so Finn was the man of the house - shoveling so Sophia doesn't have to even walk on the snow. Ha! Sledding! I went to a fun wine tasting party with other Teller moms on Saturday night. This was the welcome to the party.  Story time! Oh Emmett.

Sophia turns 5!

Our little bunny turned FIVE last week! I can't even believe it, a whole hand. She took lollies to school for her classmates, and then we had a party at La Jolla Rec Center on Sunday. Complete with a bounce house, pizza and a cake big enough to feed at least 100 people. Seriously, the cake was ridiculous. Apparently I ordered a full sheet instead of a quarter or a half. Oooopsies. I think five is gonna be a great year for Soph. She has made lots of new friends and is so happy to go to school everyday. I'm so happy she's in TK, she is loving it. She got a new bike from us, and lots of cool art stuff from friends, and her first Barbie! She also got another Wonder Woman costume from Nay Nay, thank goodness. Cruisin' on her new ride. Now we just have to get rid of those training wheels.  The actual night of her birthday she requested pasta so we went to Filipi's in PB. Hadn't been there in at least a decade and it did not disappoint. The waitstaff sang her ...

Our trip to Croatia

Helloooo! Well, we've had a few things going on so the blog has been neglected. But I want to post pictures from our last two trips this summer - Croatia and Italy. The first week of August, we flew to Split, Croatia and stayed there for a night at an Airbnb. Split is a big city with a great downtown area full of outdoor cafes, a huge jewelry market and is a main port to a whole bunch of Croatian islands. We spent 5 amazing days in Croatia - we absolutely loved this place. Gorgeous scenery, friendly people, very touristy with people from all over the world and inexpensive.  One of the many beaches in Split...     Noah bought a sweet raft for the kids. He about passed out blowing it up. Afternoon at the beach. Me and Finnster looking for a lunch spot. Sophia became a little fish this summer. She loved all the hotel pools and lakes/oceans/seas we came across. She met a friend this day, Thea, who we played with at the beach all day and then coinciden...
