Road trip to Denmark

We successfully completed our first European road trip! On Wednesday we headed north through Germany and stayed the night in Hamburg. We got there late so didn't see much, but had a great dinner at Piazza, then crashed. Thursday morning we drove 3 more hours north into the middle of the Denmark country and hit up Legoland! We stayed all afternoon, rode the rides, played the games, did the whole deal. Compared to Legoland California there was a lot of the same stuff, but it was smaller, cheaper and less crowded. After Legoland, we drove 2.5 hours east to Copenhagen. We stayed at the Hotel Tivoli for 3 nights - all of us crammed in one room because damn Copenhagen is expensive! It was a cozy 3 nights but the hotel was super family friendly with a pool, climbing wall and play room for the kids. We were on a serious summer break schedule, everyone up until 11 or 12 each night and sleeping in late every morning. Friday was a lazy day and Saturday was packed with sight seeing. We took the train to the Botanical Gardens, we toured the Rosenborg Castle and then went to Tivoli Gardens. Tivoli is probably the most famous thing in Copenhagen - it's huge, full of amusement park rides and games, beautiful gardens, stages where they have live music, restaurants, etc. Sunday morning we headed out and spent ALL day in the car driving home. The traffic all through Germany was terrible. But the few moments there wasn't traffic, holy shit Germans drive fast. Audis and Beemers absolutely flew by us, and we weren't driving slow.
Riding the train around Legoland.

This means Exit and got a lot of laughs all weekend long. The word fart appears in lots of German words. We also drove through the town of Middlefart. Good times.

At the entrance, with some random guy :)

Happiest traveler, as usual. Back in the car on Thursday evening, heading to Copenhagen which was another 2.5 hours east.

We crossed the bridge from western to eastern Denmark.

There is funky art like this all over the city.

And bikes. Not as many as in Amsterdam but still the main mode of transportation.

We spent a lot of time at Hamleys - the self-proclaimed "finest toy store in the world".

Finn is collecting bottle caps from everywhere we go. These were from MAD Restaurant in Copenhagen.

Exploring the Botanical Gardens. Everything was so green and lush. We got perfect weather.

Lily pad spotting.

Me and the Mr.

Entering the Rosenborg Castle. The woman who checked us in told the kids were there sound alarms inside and if they got too loud they'd go off and one of the soldiers would come get them. It was brilliant. We now need a sound alarm at our house. And a soldier.

Visiting the crown jewels in the basement of the Castle.

We were wandering a bit after the castle and stumbled on a plaza with food trucks, cafes and a big water fountain full of half-clothed kids. Saturday was a hot day so they stripped and played and Noah and I sat and drank a beer. Win win.

Sophia met another Sophia and they bonded over strawberries. Emmett joined the party, minus his pants.

One of the gardens at Tivoli.

The main stage. There wasn't anyone performing but people were picnicking and just hanging out everywhere. The kids turned the tables on their sides and rolled them all around the grass.

Hotel climbing wall.

Our Mini Cooper! It was a stick so Noah drove the entire way. Whoopsies.

You know that last 45 minutes of the road trip? When everyone starts going loco?! This was it. Underpants on Sophia's head, T-Swift on the radio...

...and Slick driving.

E (or Mr. Worldwide) looking out over his kingdom.

In front of another castle - no clue what this one was called but there was a wedding happening while we were there.

Breakfast at a tiny little spot called Next Door Cafe. They were playing Jack Johnson and had what the kids called the "best pancakes ever". That's a wrap - what a great long weekend and I'm happy to be "home".

What we've been up to

It's been cold and snowy! We got almost a foot of snow on Monday afternoon and the kids had a snow day on Tuesday. They got hours of TV in the morning and then Noah came home and we all went sledding. The hill by our house was absolutely packed with kids. We had so much fun. Emmett cried and cried, saying "brrrr" until I threw him on a sled with me and flew down the hill. He cried the first time, and then loved it after that. Sophia and Finn were both so brave. Noah build them a jump and they both flew over it on the sleds over and over again. Finn loves to shovel the sidewalk. Noah snowboarded a couple days over the weekend so Finn was the man of the house - shoveling so Sophia doesn't have to even walk on the snow. Ha! Sledding! I went to a fun wine tasting party with other Teller moms on Saturday night. This was the welcome to the party.  Story time! Oh Emmett.

Sophia turns 5!

Our little bunny turned FIVE last week! I can't even believe it, a whole hand. She took lollies to school for her classmates, and then we had a party at La Jolla Rec Center on Sunday. Complete with a bounce house, pizza and a cake big enough to feed at least 100 people. Seriously, the cake was ridiculous. Apparently I ordered a full sheet instead of a quarter or a half. Oooopsies. I think five is gonna be a great year for Soph. She has made lots of new friends and is so happy to go to school everyday. I'm so happy she's in TK, she is loving it. She got a new bike from us, and lots of cool art stuff from friends, and her first Barbie! She also got another Wonder Woman costume from Nay Nay, thank goodness. Cruisin' on her new ride. Now we just have to get rid of those training wheels.  The actual night of her birthday she requested pasta so we went to Filipi's in PB. Hadn't been there in at least a decade and it did not disappoint. The waitstaff sang her ...

Our trip to Croatia

Helloooo! Well, we've had a few things going on so the blog has been neglected. But I want to post pictures from our last two trips this summer - Croatia and Italy. The first week of August, we flew to Split, Croatia and stayed there for a night at an Airbnb. Split is a big city with a great downtown area full of outdoor cafes, a huge jewelry market and is a main port to a whole bunch of Croatian islands. We spent 5 amazing days in Croatia - we absolutely loved this place. Gorgeous scenery, friendly people, very touristy with people from all over the world and inexpensive.  One of the many beaches in Split...     Noah bought a sweet raft for the kids. He about passed out blowing it up. Afternoon at the beach. Me and Finnster looking for a lunch spot. Sophia became a little fish this summer. She loved all the hotel pools and lakes/oceans/seas we came across. She met a friend this day, Thea, who we played with at the beach all day and then coinciden...
